Bachelor of Civil Engineering is a 4 year undergraduate engineering degree course. This course deals with the construction, design and maintenance of structures such as bridges, canals, tunnels, buildings, waterworks, airports etc.
Civil engineers plan, design and supervise the construction of infrastructure and facilities such as buildings, airports, infrastructure facilities, dams highways, tunnels, water supply system, harbour offshore structures that are essential to human life. A civil engineer is required to design the project and construct the project and maintain it. Apart from this, the civil engineer also helps in preserving the environment by planning different ways to reduce future pollution of air, water and land.
There are two types of civil engineers. First one' s are more of consultants who focus on design work and generally spend more time in the office or working with clients, and other types of civil engineers are contractors who are more involved with keeping an eye on the physical construction and are usually based on-site. Both challenging environments, and all civil engineers are required to be innovative and logical individuals.
According to Nepal College of Engineering(TU Affiliated):
Civil engineering is arguably the enormous engineering discipline that deals with the design, construction, and maintenance of the physical and naturally built environment, including works like buildings, roads, highways, hydropower, bridges, canals, dams etc. This built environment encompasses much of what defines modern civilization. Civil engineers build the world’s huge infrastructure. In doing so, they have shaped the histories and destinies of every nation. In fact, civil engineer’s concepts make civilization truly possible.
Since time immemorial, human beings have been engaged in building all kinds of edifices. From huts made of mud to high raise buildings, we have definitely come a long way. As civilizations matured, it simultaneously led to the development of bigger, better and diverse structures.
Some significant structures from the past include the Bruz Tower of Dubai, the tallest building in the world, Bird-nest stadium of China, Stonehenge in Britain, the Great Wall of China and Huge marine dams of Holland, the magnificent Eiffel tower of Paris etc. These are just but a mere glimpse of the examples set by one of the important branches of engineering, that is Civil Engineering.
The total duration of this curricular program is Four years. Each year consists of two semesters of six months each. And total are 8 semester in Four Years.
The target group for this programme will be all interested Students who have passed the entrance exam conducted by the Institute of Engineering (IoE)-T.U.
The target location will be all over Nepal.
